Default in-line t5 5 cylinder

Hi
Has anybody ever seen a t5 5 cylinder engine used in-line to power the rear wheels and could they lead me in the right direction for technical advice?

I have got to the engine stage of my 5 year restoration on a ford capri, the second love in my life after the T-5r ( dont tell the missus ). Have gone over a few options but they have all been done before and im getting tired of reading about them and dont want to go down the jap route as that is were the masses are heading to be different.

Now that ford are using the 5 cylinder lump in the fast fords of today it seems like the only answer.

Cheers
Mark

Plenty of people have done a T5 conversion on 960's and the like, you need an M90 gearbox out of a 960/S90, have a look at places like Turbobricks, turboperformanceclub.com and garaget.org. Must say I love the idea, I'd contemplated the same thing myself a few times but I was considering dropping one into a mk2 escort.

Sorry, but I wouldn't even dream of devaluing a five year restoration by using anything other than an original type engine.

Most you should really do is perhaps think of upgrading your Ford engine - they're good reliable engines and can easily produce oodles of power if that's what you're after.

If you want to create a hybrid that's worthless to the Ford Capri collector market, then by all means go ahead.

Cheers,

T

Sounds like a good project! I saw a Capri with a V8 engine last week in Hailsham - still loads of modified ones on the roads, good to see.
