Default OBDII Codes from a T4.

Guys,

I've had my T4 for about 3 weeks now, but had the fright of my life on Monday!

Pootling along the road the Engine Check light came on! :hmm4er: I had to get to work, so I took it easy and low down performance didn't seem to be affected. When I started the car to go home the light had gone out, but it came back after a short time. Next morning, the light was out and has stayed out ever since.

That's just a bit of background really, to the real question...
A mate lent me his OBDII code reader and this showed a P0107 code!

The blurb from the code list says - P0107 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input

Can someone tell me what this means? And how do I fix it?

The probable causes for that code are "Wiring short to earth, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, BARO sensor, ECM". Thats as far as i can help though. Good luck.

Is your car a Phase 1 or Phase 2? It could me the MAP sensor (or one of the two on a Phase 2 car) as I have had mine replaced once under warranty.

She's an '02 plate phase 2, with 96k on the clock.

Is the MAP sensor a common fault?
How expensive are they to replace?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think failure is that common, but if definitely does happen. Since yours is a Phase 2, you will have 2 MAP sensors, one on the intercooler exit and the other on the intake manifold. I believe genuine ones cost about £70 to buy and are very easy to fit (the one on the intake manifold may require the fuel rail to come off, but that's easy enough).

Thanks Pyaap, all good stuff. I spoke to the dealer I purchased her from and he is sorting me out a sensor (or two!).

What are the symptoms of a MAP sensor failure?
I have noticed (possily...) a slight drop off in performance and an increase in fuel consumption. Would that be consistent with a sensor?
