Oil change with VIDA/DiCE
Good morning,
Time to do my second service on my XC70, however this time I now have VIDA/DiCE, where as previously I did not. Is there anything to do differently? Last time I used the technician dipstick to judge the level, but I read that you can use VIDA for this... however I also read that you should not use VIDA for this, and instead get the correct amount filled and then reset VIDA to let the system know. Or should I just KISS and leave VIDA out of the operation. Any tips would be appreciated.

Also - is it 5.7L or 5.9L?
Seeing people on here saying Volvo retrospectively reduced to 5.7L, but on my 2015 version of VIDA is still states 5.9 against my engine model (D5244T10)?

Go for 5.7L first and check .
In Vida you can reset service interval But oil level reset 4-5 times I didn't do it. Just oil change and service reset. Your is 7y younger, maybe you need level reset. Search a lil bit in VIDA |

Go with 5.7l and leave vida out of it.
I've never known a car get so worried about too much oil. I thought that filling the dipper up to max, my car would throw a wobbler.

So long as you don’t fill past 3/4 on the dipstick, you’ll be fine. You don’t need VIDA to turn off the service light either.

So I put precisely 5.9L in, after reading that is still correct for the twin turbo D5 (D5244T10).. that was after a very long drain of warm oil, so pretty confident I got it all out.. and I ended up with 73%... hopefully I don't need to worry too much about the extra 3% . Never known an oil change to be so complicated!
Reset oil level and grade in VIDA too.

Also, idle thought, as we're being picky about measurements, are 4 litre oil cans exactly 4.0 litres or abit over, and if over, how much. Anyone ever checked the volume?? Cheers Bob. |

and regarding the accuracy of the oil cans... that thought crossed my mind today (sad, I know lol)... there is surely some significant tolerance to how much oil can be in a drum. Like I said, I've never given an oil change so much thought
