Default Can anyone explain the central locking

Hello folks, I’ve new to the forum having recently bought a 13 plate R Lux. It’s very low mileage and I have to say I’m very pleased with the car, the drive and all the bits that come on it. I am however confounded by the central locking on it. I’ve been through the locking menu on the car settings. When I set it to auto lock when I get out the only way I can open the other doors is with the rocker switch on the door panel. I switched auto lock off but tonight when I got out I had to remotely unlock the tailgate.
Is there some secret to all of this. Ideally I would like to just have it so that when I get out of the car using the drivers side interior door handle it unlocks the passenger door and tailgate.

On my 58 plate SE Lux the passenger door and boot will only unlock (without using the door switch) when I take the key out. This is a bit annoying at times but that's the way it is! My car is keyless entry but key start.

Pull the handle twice and it will unlock then open that door. If you want all doors and boot open, you have to use the unlock button.

Thanks, having tried everything else today that is what I’ve arrived at. I’ve turned the auto locking function off so I don’t keep getting out of the car, getting to the tailgate and finding it’s locked.......annoying in the rain
