Default Changed back to Volvo Spark plugs

I put Original Equipment Numbers: 8692070 Spark plugs in today
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292144289426

Had the NGK ones in last couple of times as got MOT man to service it.

It now is now running like a pig out of time or 2-3 cylinders.

I took it for a slow spin to see if it had to relearn its self! Still no good.

I am thinking of putting the old ones back in next to eliminate the plugs.

Any other ideas?

You've got the leads muddled probably. Just changing the plugs cannot affect timing.

Unbelievable, I disconnected the battery before I rushed off to work so to reset the ECU. Got back 12 hrs later reconnected, turned the key started well. Took her for a spin, wow what a difference. She is back like all computers just turn them off and on again. Sorted.

Default Wiring to coil pack conector

5 mins of blissful motoring then the back to missing and limping along. So stopped had a look under and saw this which was probably my original problem. The connector and wiring to one of the coils is cooked and definably causing this problem. I give it wiggle/push it in runs OK if it move it doesn't. Any quick fix ideas, I have read that you have to buy and replace the whole lot. Has anybody managed to repair or replace sections from donor cars? If I can replace sections would it have to come from P1 T4? Thanks for you help.

Well, the 'bargain bucket' fix would be to cut the plugs off and solder the wires directly. Otherwise you'll need to obtain the plugs, which probably means buying the whole thing. Second-hand is an option. Or you could obtain entirely different plugs and attach those accordingly, providing they'll manage the currant, if you want it to be removeable.

But really, how often do you disconnect those things? If you're overhauling the engine to the degree that you need to unplug them, then soldering won't be too much hassle.

Depends how much it's worth to you, and how much you're wiling to spend, and how long you expect a car of this age to last.

Has anyone soldered directly to the pins?
Does the solder take to the metal on the coil pins?

Hi
Quite often you can buy new pins for connectors. Worth a rummage through VIDA just on the off chance,

The pins normally lock into the connector with small metal flaps and sometimes needs a bit of ingenuity to remove, or a breakers, and the just solder the replacement connector wires to the car wires,

given that it is still currently connected and working with a wiggle, a bit of solder to reinforce the join may be all that is needed.
