Default Service xc90

I have recently purchased a 2007 xc90 with around 114k miles. I am travelling to France and back next month and wondered if I should get a full service done on the car before I go. I purchased from a reputable garage and it has full service history etc. but it has been sitting for 6 months before I purchased it. I am taking it to my local trusted garage for a once over before I go but I wondered if it would make more sense to do a full service and oil change etc. now rather than a once over and then full service in a couple of months. I wanted to get some advice as to what you guys think and if it makes much difference doing a service early. Thank you in advance.

Can't do any harm. If you have the funds available, I would do it.

Better to know the car is fine with all new parts and oil in before you go on such a long journey. Especially if it's been sitting still for 6 months.

I would want to check that the cam and serpentine ("fan") belts have been done in the last few years and I might have expected rusting of the discs - check for uneven braking or visual impairment after a bit of use to tidy up surface rust. Do you have a long hill nearby ? Keep a close eye on the coolant level, just to eliminate risk of major incipient problems - not that you should expect them. Lastly, I suggest a long run with the air con working, just to check that it doesnt give up after a while - on the basis that you might hopefully want ac in France....
