V50 Parrot MKi9200 install wiring questions
Firstly, hello. New here.
So, I've spent the weekend on what I consider to be a pretty tidy install of a Parrot MKi9200 in my 2007 V50 2.4 D5 with high performance sound system. I connected it all up but no power to the parrot. I've searched through this forum and have already got a lot of help from it. There are a few threads which sound like they might contain the info I need but they are old and the image attachments no longer seem to work. I've also gone through youtube too which has been helpful for the install, but I still have questions. In videos and on this forum it mentions a blue cable to wire into the ignition/cigarette lighter. Easy stuff except there doesn't appear to be that blue cable. I'm fairly handy with working on cars, but when it comes to electrics, especially on these more modern cars (minis were my thing many years ago), I am stumped. I've attached a photo of the parrot wiring partially connected to the extension cable from the boot. Hopefully this will be clear. A/B = Ignition wire. C = Speakers D = Mute So do I splice in a wire from A or B and run that to the cigarette lighter in the centre console? C - Do I need to connect the speaker wires or is that handled from the cables running through to the amp? D - Any idea which mute to use? 1, 2 or 3? Any help would be very much appreciated as I don't want to take it all apart again a third time. :-) |

It doesn't, from what I can see, but as I said, electrics isn't really my thing.

It appears to say that the system is wired in using a pre existing connector. I'd phone Parrot in the morning

Yeah, looks like I might have to. In this forum and elsewhere there is a lot of mention of the same issue I have, just not quite the specific bit to answer my question about where to actually take the wire from. It's easy after that.... hopefully.

Have you purchased the correct sot wiring loom for the high performance stereo in your Volvo?
Can't see it in the picture linked in the post so you'll probably find that's why it's not working and you have no power etc. Last edited by mattievrs; Oct 18th, 2015 at 19:47. |

Yeah, the cable is correct. I think the problem is that I needed another cable from the place I got the extension lead. The supplier make one specifically for the ignition issue I have by the looks of it. I've contacted the supplier to check before I take any other action.
At least I'm getting good at taking panels and glove boxes out now :-) Once I know what's needed I'll post the details here just in case someone else has the same issue. If it doesn't work then I'll be posting more questions. |

Yes you do need additional power, I used one of these. Works great, I can check what fuse I used tomorrow if you like?

So you have the sot lead that plugs into the fibre optic input on the head unit? Thought the power one cam with that...

I have the same Parrot kit and the fibre optic HU. The SOT leads / Parrot system don't touch the optical part at all, it simply intercepts the sounds on the way to the speakers (with the exception of the dash speaker) and puts its own output through them. Power was needed for the Parrot.
