Question XC60 - does your bonnet sit tight on its rubber bushes?

I was washing my car the other day and was surprised to find that when I washed the bonnet, the front edges moved up and down.

There appears to be a gap between the bonnet and the rubber bushes on the chassis.

It rattles - hope you can see the video on my dropbox.

Is this normal? Is it likely to cause a problem? It seems like something to mention to the dealer when I get it serviced, but that will be 9 months away.

I am not saying it is right, BUT mine is exactly the same. So I am interested to hear what others say too.

I haven't watched the video, but my bonnet moves and makes a noise when it is properly closed. I mentioned this at the 3 month check up and was told that the bonnet should have that amount of movement. Hope that helps allay your fears.

Mine is the same. Must admit have always wondered if it was normal. As the actual panel fit was spot on it hasn't really bothered me.

My previous V60 wasn't like it.

Thanks for raising it and putting my mind to rest.

Mike

It certainly does. Thanks.

What is a 3 month check up? My Service Plan merely says every year or 18,000 miles.

There have been threads on here about the 3 month check up fairly recently. It is there for the new owner to get the car to the Dealer for any issues to be sorted and to meet the the Service Reception Team.

It only takes around an hour and is free of charge.

On mine, they found my washer bottle was leaking from the bottom hose which I wasn't aware of.

Your dealer should have told you about this, but as it 'costs them' I have a feeling they forgot to tell you. My dealer was very firm about this free offer - "we do expect to see you back in 3 months ...", and have even followed this up with an email.
I suspect I know who your dealer is, but I won't name and shame in case I'm wrong !
It will be interesting when you phone them up to book it in.

I think the 1st service is free with any dealer as mine was done at another dealer.

Mine is the almost the same though not quite as a large gap after I slightly unscrewed the black rubber stops by about ½ a turn each side.

I tried doing that, but the ones on mine do not have a spiral thread. So any amount of turning didn't make an adjustment to the height of the rubber stop.

As there are quite a few of us with the same free play, it would appear to be "Normal", so one less thing to worry about.
