So far getting an average of over 45mpg, which is good. It matches my previous 2.0l derv. But I do a motorway commute so can hit cruise control a lot.
Getting about 560 miles to a tank before I refill, and then there's still some left. Just not trusting the "miles to empty" just yet. |

On my usual commute and daily stuff I get about 580-600 miles until empty (can usually fill with about 59 litres!)
The current tank has been mainly long distance stuff and it's done 620 miles with approximately 40 miles range on the OBD. |

Depends on how anal you want to get, but I put my fill ups into http://www.spritmonitor.de and it tracks my mpg and cost per mile based on any other costs you put into it.

I have a C70 D5 manual, it's a lot heavier than your V50 so you should be able to do better. My measured lifetime average over 23K is 43.5mpg, best from a whole tank is 51.22.
I typically get between 450 and 550 miles between fill ups although if you're getting 50MPG+ and you're willing to run it until the range goes to zero you can get 600 miles between fillups. I don't particularly drive for economy but spend a lot of time on the motorway. I think with a manual V50 D5 in good order and with the tyre pressures set to the eco setting you'd be able to get a solid 45mpg if you make a lot of long journeys. As you say it does have a very nice growl to it ;-) |

i drive my 2008 v50 D5 rather hard and i get around 420-460miles per fill up. My journeys are generally short and have a few stints of dual carriageway every day where the old girl gets to stretch her legs
I have had 620 miles from a tank when I did Reading --> Leeds --> Reading and then Reading --> Milton Keynes --> Reading in the same week. Cruise control was used a lot. |

I like to give it the beans and I see anything over 500 before the light comes on as a bonus. I have had closer to 600 on long run journeys and 450 on local work though.
Either way I am happy, my old Scooby could do 33mpg on a long run, but was mostly returning 28~30 mpg average.
