anyone tried to change their siren battery & ended up with a damaged siren case?
if the printed circuit board inside doesn't look like mine (burnt...), I'd really apreciate the chance of buying it from you. thanks in advance |

Don't buy one unless it has been opened properly for inspection and has a good circuit board. If you get one free all the better as most get damaged with water. Minty is a trader, PM him. He must be bona fide to be allowed on the forum. Regards. Last edited by 4candles; May 4th, 2015 at 19:36. |

I bought 3 with no success! All boards toast. 2 out of 3 refunded though, so no big deal. I ended up just cleaning my original, fixing a new battery to it, and popping it back in. The siren is as quiet as a mouse, but the flippin' 'ALARM SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED' message has gone.
OK, I'm weird like that, I don't actually care about the alarm working, but I hate being reminded that it doesn't work every time I get in the car.

I know I'm a newbie but just wanted to clarify something posted here.
The PCB is rarely ruined by water. It's the batteries that break down once they are too old. They leak acid which looks like water but simply burns the copper printed circuit board and component leads away. Mine is suffering the same issue currently so I too am looking for a new PCB. HOWEVER, firstly I'm going to deconstruct it so it can be EASILY put back together and made waterproof again and secondly, I'm going to install an EXTERNAL battery pack so it can never be damaged in this way again no matter how long you keep your car. I've been to U Pull It in York today and looked at 4. All of them were christmas crackered. If anyone has one that is not destroyed and would like to sell it for a breaker price I'm happy to buy it from you. Then I can put the how to together AND get an alarm back with no more annoying message. |
