Default Fog Lights discoloured

Not a specific 240 problem, but another question.
I'm trying to get the foglights working on my car, but I have found that the INSIDE of the glass is badly discoloured, misted over with what looks like the sort of whitish deposit you get on the inside of a halogen bulb when it blows.
This deposit is bad enough that you can't actually see through the glass lens.
As these are sealed units, not like the headlamps which I dismantled to clean the insides of the glasses, does anyone know of a way to get this deposit off?
I have no doubt that a couple of sessions in the dishwasher on 'intensive' might do it, but I suspect that would strip the reflector silvering as well, which is not the object of the exercise.
Any ideas?

Default Cleaning my lenses

Just out of interest I have tried soaking the lenses (insides, being careful not to touch the reflectors) with:-

Limescale remover
Bleach
Vinegar
Lemon Juice
Washing up liquid, and
Concentrated, hot dishwasher fluid

Results.............bu88er all!!
Still fogged!
Anyone gotta pair of foglights going cheep (last owned by a chicken,.. going cheep... oh well).

Doesn'y surprise me Alec! You can get some cheap but efficent plastic bodied lamps from the smaller independents or maybe local market. They may only last a few years but are also easily damaged. My driving lamps on the GLT cost me as tnner just over two years ago (I think they're made by Ring) and are just showing first signs of bubbling on reflector of one. I've done 80,000 with them including two salty winters.

I have a cheapo set of Ring fogs to go on, but I was trying to rescue the originals as they are the proper bosch ones with amazingly, still the 'Volvo' badged covers.I think I might see if I can get the 'ring' lamps to fit the old bocsh/volvo bodies.
