Default C30 Door Speakers

I'm thinking of upgrading the inadequate "Performance" grade front speakers in my 09 C30 R Design to something better. What I need to know is the size of the current speakers, and if anyone has any reccomendations with what I can replace them with. I've got some 6.5" Dynaudios for the back, but I think the front ones are smaller.

I want something that will be a relatively straight swap without too much modification required.

I had mine replaced with the Hertz Dieci DSK 165.3 at the front. Sound great. The originals are 4 ohms btw. When I took the originals out they were truly rubbish quality.

Was much modification required, or did they fit right in?

I had it fitted by a specialist. Needed a mount, but that was it. Had it dynamated as well. It sounds so much better, especially fed off my mp3 player. Can actually hear the detail in the music instead of just being muffled. All in was £140.

Hi,

Could you be a little more specific on what's been changed and which speakers needed mounts and what sort of mounts? Any links to suitable speakers would also be great too!

Thanks

Yes sorry. Just changed the front main speaker and tweeter. Link here, but plenty of evidence on the quality of the Hertz as a direct replacement around the internet;

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/spea...ieci-dsk-165-3

They are intended for direct oem replacement hence the 4ohms. The fitters used a Vauxhall mount as one does not exist for the Volvo. I dont know which model though!

I like my sound detailed, and the more expensive ESKs apparently offer better midrange apparently. Still, with the DSKs the sound is on a par with my V70 from `99, which had the best standard sound that I have experienced.

The fitters finished in an hour and a half, and didn´t say that they had any problems. They added Dynomat around the mount to make a box - improves the sound a lot apparently.

Any other questions then please shout.

Pheew! That put me at ease! V50 door speakers are the same so my modifications are in the 2.7 Ohm ball park total per channel as opposed to standard 3 Ohm (resulting from parallel 13.2 Ohm tweeters). All good
