This is a very sad story, and I cannot begin to imagine the pain of Jade Clark's family

A couple of things though:

"They said the vehicle they were looking for would have a number plate with 52, 03, 53, 04, 54, 05, 55, 06, 56, 07 or 57 in it, or a personalised registration."

I wonder why they are so sure that it isn't an 08/09/10/11/12 MY car? Detail changes between facelifts perhaps? Details that could have been altered during a vehicle's lifetime after damage caused by previous lower speed collisions (bumpers/lights etc available from breakers), making it look like an older model?

"Detectives believe she was struck by light coloured Volvo XC90 registered between 2003 and 2007."

So surely owners of black models won't need to be visited?!

I sure hope they find the killer, regardless of what they were driving.

I find it difficult to believe with all the CCTV and ANPR cameras that they can't release more details?

Perhaps there is a reason why more specific details are not being given but I suspect they already know exactly which colour they are after at the very least? With ANPR cameras in the area they must be able to short list the vehicles they are after.

It is absolutely horrific that someone would just hit and run like that, thoughts are definitely with the family at what must be a very difficult time.

I'm just not so sure there would be much damage to the front of and XC90 though? Depending on exactly how it has struck the moped.

It's tragic and awful that these things happen, I can't understand why people run away from such things where it's possible that stopping to help could have prevented lasting injury.

It's odd for the Police to say they are going to contact all XC90 owners, seems like a lot of police resources would be tied up, I don't know how many XC90's there are but it must be a lot. I suspect the police won't be contacting everyone, it's just a way to reach out to the community to help pass on details or have someone turn themselves in.

Reading the article, the Police don't say they will be visiting all XC90 owners in the UK. They just say 'If you own or use such a Volvo XC90 we will be coming to visit you'.

I suspect there is something missing from the report/statement along the lines 'if the vehicle is close to the description given and we have reason to believe that it may have been in the area at the time.' I think it's a way of saying 'We're taking this seriously - if anyone has any suspicions about someone who drives a car like this, we'd like you to contact us - if it was you driving the car, we plan to find you so save yourself from a worse position by coming forward now.'

As others have already said, thoughts must be with Jade's family at this time.

As if they have the time on their hands to visit EVERY XC90 owner... it took Armed Response 40 minutes to attend someone pulling a gun on me at work last weekend... then another 15 bobbies to "clean up" afterwards.

Why did the police not use a picture of a UK XC90?

Nigetill..... good point I've copied and pasted the link onto one of the FB sites that is circulating details from Dorset police. If nothing else it will be another one eliminated.

There is now a £5000 reward for info on the XC90.

The one on Ebay, does look a bit dodgy. looking at the damage done to it.

Hope they find the person responsible for Jade's death.
