Default OBD ii Software & ELM327

Does any volvoforum.org.uk member have any experience of using "TOTAL OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics™ (TOAD®)" software?

I recently bought myself an ELM327 ver1.5a - the supplied fee software is OK for code reads but, as with all freeware has limits re generic codes & etc.

I came across the Australian TOTAL OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics™ (TOAD®) software which has make specific codes and capability to reset a range of values/reprogram ecu etc, when rummaging through what is available on the net for ELM327's and found
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/96-2012-BM...-/330699747261

which has a support base and forum at
http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/s...gebase&_a=view

Any input would gratefully accepted before I buy this particular software, as I see it, one great advantage is that it was originally written for use in Australia, so avoids dodgy/interesting translations.

Did you try TOAD? It look like a very attractive option.

Torque is a much better program if you own an android phone and a bluetooth reader. Plus it costs less than a fiver. Best app i ever bought for my phone and easily a far better buy than most dedicated readers!

Many thanks for the advice - the original post in this string was March 2012. Oddly a few weeks ago, having tried several different software Win based programs and android phone apps, I came to the conclusion that Torque Pro was one of the best, plus, as it runs on an android tablet, could also link to a bluetooth ELM327.
This gives a constant readout when the engine is running/car is driven and can also be configured to act as an Head Up Display - haven't actually got round to the HUD bit, but running on a 10inch Android tablet, straight screen use provides some very interesting data! Using HUD format should be really good, as it would provide an image in the field of vision without need to re-focus, which if a GPS dongle is also used or is on-board the android/win & etc device, will also give satnav in the same screen.
