Default Phone Connection Failed

My Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray was paired and working perfectly in the XC60. Today it would not connect, despite the phone name appearing in the Sensus and vice versa. I tried connecting my wife's phone (also paired) and it did connect but only after she gave permission on her handset. This surprised me as I thought that, once paired, it would connect without approval.

I then tried mine again with the handset on the dashboard but still got the "connection failed" response. I even tried making the phone temporarily "visible" as you do when pairing, but no luck.

I've looked through the threads and many others have had connection problems but nothing quite like this that I could find.

Thanks in advance.

I've had my XC60 for about 2 months now, and often have problems connecting my Nokia N86 8MP. Sometimes it takes several attempts to connect even though it is paired and discoverable. Sometimes it drops out once connected and a call is in progress, it just drops back to handheld.
Initially I wasn't sure if it was the bluetooth in the car or on the phone, but eventually eliminated it to the phone, as the only solution to reestablish the connection was to restart the phone. Even switching bluetooth off and back on on the phone would not fix it.

Hi Mountain Goat,

Thanks for your input. I may have answered my own question. The phone was acting up a bit, the main problem being live wallpaper not loading. It seems that this was due to shortage of memory - have bought a 32Gb card but not got round to installing it yet. Deleting my music has freed up memory and everything seems ok with the phone now. Am going to Taggarts tomorrow for an alarm service, so will see how it behaves then. It's too windy to go out today!

Yeah, it's pretty breezy down south, but nothing compared to up your way from what I've seen on the news.
Lack of memory may have something to do with it in my case as well. My Nokia is always running low on memory, even though it's got a ludicrous amount of onboard memory. Poor mem management, time for a new phone methinks.

Not quite as bad as the "great storm" of '87, in the Glasgow area at least. We were living near Aldershot then and I remember it well. I think it's going to get a bit chilly in Bucks (and elsewhere) over the next few days. Glad I got the winter tyres last week

Remember the "great storm" well myself. Have been monitoring the various winter tyre threads with interest. Haven't decided whether to go that route or not yet. One of the reasons for getting the XC60 was the problems with getting round in my part of hilly Bucks over the last 3 winters. Half expect to never see any snow round my way now that I've got AWD!!

Just changed over to my Nokian Winters today - this will be my 1st ever experience of Winters. I was very pleased when my local Kwikfit only charged me £12/tyre to change over - I was expecting double that.

Don't you just love sod's law? Remember you have to get down the hills as well as up and be able to stop at the bottom. That's where winters tyres come in and not just for snow either.
