Default 2002 XC70 LPG Conversion - Is this OK?

Hi There,

I have a 2002 XC70 and I have been looking into the feasibility of going LPG, but I have had some conflicting advise. The first garage I spoke to said that they would not do it because it could do more harm than good to the engine, yet other places seem happy to provide a quote.

It is a 4 cylinder (I think) 2.4 Petrol and has done 140K miles.

would appreciate opinions /advice on this.

Many thanks.

They are actually 5 cylinder.

I've personally never had any problems with them but there have been cases of some cars suffering with VSR. This only happens with the FORD altered engines.

The problem can be solved by using a valve saver system, changing the lifter to hydrolic ones or having hardened valves and seats fitted.

Thanks for the comments, how do I know if I have a Ford altered engine? What is VSR?
