1992 240 Estate (Lots of pics)
Fellow enthusiasts,
I never thought I would say "selling" and "my 240" in the same sentence, but the time has come. I'm moving out of the country and I already have 3 other cars (the '85 245, the '93 945T and the Camry wagon) to upkeep, and I'm just running out of ways to justify keeping this one. This is a 1992 Volvo 245 SE... Taxed until May 2011 and MOT'ed until Dec 2011. Engine: B230F, runs great & has always started, new cap & rotor, no piston slap, no valvetrain noise, PCV ok, overall a solid engine. Trans: M47 Suspension: Stock. New front struts, new steering rack, overall a tight stock ride Interior: RH Drive, Tan with black dash (no cracks) real woodgrain trim, heated seats, aftermarket radio, power windows in front, Volvo dogcrate, small clock.... see pics for rest Exterior: Glass e-codes with working wipers, Glass sunroof, heated mirrors, Virgo wheels, very minor scratches on body paint, no body rust (PM me for hi-res pics) The bad... not a whole lot really, I was amazed at the condition of this one when I got it and just wish we had 240's in this shape back in America. Its a DD right now, it could use IPD sways, and the other usual 240 upgrades to top off Stage 0. It does suffer from the classic headliner issue, easy fix. Its the vinyl type so it hasnt sagged, but ripped around the sunroof I dont want to let this one go... Overall, this is quite a solid car and would make a great +T project for anyone here. Id really much prefer it'd go to someone as passionate as me on some volvo forum. I need the money for my 945T project car, so first person with USD $1800 or 1000£ takes it. Car is in Portsmouth UK, I need to sell it before the end of May. The pictures pretty much say it all, but post here or PM me! |

BUMP! I am glad to have had a few posts on here, but a bit surprised at the low responses from guys in the UK. (its also posted on turbobricks.com)
Here is the deal: Im on a very tight timeline during May 2011. If I can't sell this car here in the UK before I move back to Canada, I will send it to a scrapyard and get a few bucks for it. Used car lots here dont want it, they consider it too old, whatever that means. I don't have the time to part it out, and as much as you prob all will think this is a stupid move, it will need to go by the end of May--Sold or Scrapped. Not sure if its the price, but I honestly dont think I'm asking too much...I am open to reducing the price considerably if it means SELLING it. I really want it to go to a fellow enthusiast, but I haven't heard from one yet here in the UK. If you know of someone, or some carlot that would be interested, please do chime in. Thanks

honest reply
Car looks good.
However personal attachement is not what other are willing to pay for. Kind of you to have it on offer here. Perhaps you try an "" auction"" format here?? See what people are wiling to offer. Otherwise there is always ebay etc if you really get stuck. Best wishes for sale, brodgar |

I stated a price, because I think it was good form to do so. Its actually in the forum rules on Turbobricks.com...
I am not asking for others to pay for personal attachment... simply to break even. Feel free to PM me with an offer of what you are willing to pay, with no consideration for my list price.

It's a nice-looking car in fairly good condition (and I'm a great enthusiast for 240's - I prefer the shape to all others) but it's probably worth about £550.
Good luck with a sale !

Thanks for the bump on my thread. If you were going to do a comment on what you think it would actually sell for, I would have much appreciated if you PM me instead, just like I asked...
