I have contacted the seller of the car today. It is literally around the corner from me. I was going to go and view this having spoke to the seller he wants £550 the bonnet needs resprayed and ten advisors on MOT make It hard to for me to part with this sort of money for it as I think he got it for buttons!!!

Nice car though rare colour for a GLT.

Just to quote the above , i am the owner of the car , the log book is in my name , i own four other classic cars in total , as this is my hobby , i took the trouble to save this vehicle from being crushed , scrap value was going to pay 200 pounds for the car , so i had to pay the scrap price , on top of this was a 100 pounds garage bill for the MOT fail work , the mot was 45 pounds , also i have put a new CD player and Spekers in , and 25 Pounds worth on fuel for the winning bidder to drive it away with , and 1 months insurance , 35 pounds , so far i have spent Over 400 pounds ,and put two days of cleaning and polishing into it , i wouldn"t call that buttons , some of us do this for the love of the vehicle , and not just for money , by not bothering to come out yesterday, you missed viewing a really nice example .....
PS: i see theres the same model on here for sale for 1500 pounds , higher mileage as well ....... who's making the real dosh

Sure there maybe others on here advertised at a higher price ..... but im guessing that they are still on here for sale .

Anyone could offer a 240 for sale for a few thousand pounds .... weather they would get the asking price though is another question .

The above is not to have a go at you in anyway ...... just stating facts .

I've just sold my 1979 244dl for £1550.00 on ebay, this was after this forum implied i was dreaming at my 1500 staring price on Ebay, i do get the feeling that if a 'fresh' volvo comes onto the market that some of the forum members have not seen before they are all to quick to put a bit of a damper on the car for sale WHY????
Look under the tilte 'WOW' in the for sale section here and you will see what i mean

goodolboy,

you have my complete surport ,if it was not for people just like you and me (justin davies /spencerrhys )where would all these 240s be...
"some of us do it for the love "
to end..
its all ways a lot easier to find fault than a positive.

My opinion for what it's worth, is that a 240 of 'this era' should fall within £500-£750 (private sale). This one does & it's a GLT & in a rare colour

i was not knocking the car being put down , it was the fact that i got it for buttons , if you would of come out and had a look , you could have seen what i've spent on keeping it on the road , too many people make assumptions , i think the listing is a fair price for a years motoring , i could of passed it on to the banger boys without the hassle , for 550 pounds my profit will be just over 100 pounds , that will go towards the next classic that comes my way.

regards ,,, Andy
