Did you ever find your rims? I have five (5) Virgo alloys off a 1989 GLT. Pretty good condition considering their age. They were restored professionally in 1998 so very suitable for another restoration - no dents or gouges. I'm in Stratford-upon-Avon but son has girlfriend in Bournemouth area so could get them to you if time is not citical. Let me know if you are interested or call me on 00 47 975 94 222 (it's a norwegian mobile)

I have a 240 GLT wheel in pretty good condition left over from when I owned a 240. You can have it for whatever it would get for weighing in at the scrappy if you want it! Located East Herts.

Got a set of 5 virgos, 4 having tyres on them with some life left. They were in 9/10 condition before i took them off the car but since then ive started to rub them down to refurb them back to 10/10 to sell them.
Was gonna put them up at £120 after the refurb, and im still happy to do the refurb so im not taking much off that, sooo...£100 for the set - thats £20 a wheel.

Well, apart from Polaris/Eiker and Galaxy and maybe Gemini, Virgos are my favourite VOlvo wheel, and I have a set and I want to get them onto one of my 7/9s.
The gossip is that they are OK on the back but often foul the calipers on the front. I've tried them on my F reg 760T because I expected it to have the "small" brakes. Negative clearance - but only by a little bit. I have not tried them on my H reg 740 - she's got the "bigs" (which are actually bigger diameter than the "jumbos"). Likewise I have not tried them on my M reg 940 - which I expect to have the "jumbos" Has anyone fitted them with spacers onto a 7/9? What was the minmum spacer possible - and was it little enough to avoid having to strip the front hubs and put new bolts/studs in? I have heard a rumour of someone who slightly relieved his calipers with an angle grinder - and got away with it, no galleyways were exposed to the light! Can anyone give informed comment on this approach - it seems potentially very risky? |

in theory it would work. My brother fitted 10 inch wheels to a racing mini that had rover disc brakes, he ground away at the caliper bit by bit. Not something I would recommend for a road car though, just sounds a bit dodgy
