Default fuel rail and injectors

Is it ment to be so hard to pull the fuel rail off?

As I was wanting to change the fpr due to hot start issues, I decided that id have ago this morning but ended up bending the retaining plate getting the fuel rail off! And leaving 2 injectors on the rail and the other 2 still in the engine. Wish things would be easy for a change

Once you have disconnected the hoses and undone the two 10mm bolts you can pull the rail out with the injectors in. Then you have to undo the retaining plate torx screws which release the injectors from the rail.

I did undo them, like I say got the rail off but minus 2 injectors as the retaining plate bent and detached from the fuel rail.

Just to help future owners when they remove the rail....just squirt a bit of WD40 on the injectors in the head to lubricate the O rings and wobble gently the rail and usually they all come out on the rail!

Default swapped hot start issue for cold start :(

Hi guys,

When I put everything back together and turnt the key the car started first time, since then I seem to have an issue with cold starts only. Any ideas? Its almost like the fuel isn't quite there then after 6 odd secs she catches and is fine. Still pulls fine when I need her too.

Should I depress the service valve on the fuel rail whilst she is running to make sure there is no air in the system? Just a thought.

Thanks Dean

Did you have to use something to lever the rail off, or did you just manage to do it by hand? I know a few folk have levered it and managed to get the lever between the rail and the retaining plate.

did it by hand but the retaining plate bent, its all back together now. Just the cold start issue. Its just weird how it turnt over straight away when I first put it all back together and now the continuous cranking before it finally catches.

Might be that there is a bit of air in the fuel system OR you need to change the glow plugs... both of them would cause cold start problems and prolonged cranking..

What was the part number of the new FPR ?......as the turbo one is different from the N/A motor

Did you use all new "O" rings on assembly with vaseline on them (not grease)?
