More likely that turbo shaft is broken. Search for reconditioned turbos.

Exactly the symptoms I had (110k miles). I paid £800 for a recon turbo to be fitted, would have been £1400 for a new unit, but I gather from folks on here that you're only looking at £400 in sensible money if you can get a second hand turbo in good condition at your leisure. (They have gone for about £30 on eBay if you're lucky)

Can I post links to ebay? Well here is one, if its not allowed (cant see why, just helping someone out) then take it down Mods.
Recon Turbos I think mine is heading the same way on my T4 and thinking of getting one from here unless anyone has anywhere at a better price. |

there is a company that us jap sports car owners use, i cant rember the name, but a rebuild of your own turbo was waying in at around £200, take the turbo off the car and send it to them, they would strip and inspect it, if viable for repair there normally turned them round in about 3-5 days, cant rember the name of the company at the moment but i will dig it out.
or if possible get the manufactor info off the housings for the turbo as it might be possible to buy the chra for the turbo and do a mini rebuild your self |

Hey up,
I have a 2nd hand turbo that belongs to Gatos in my garage. It works. My car had a re-con turbo unit at 160K. Cost me £485 for the turbo and fit myself. You might want to get in touch with him and see what he wants to sell this unit for. I don't need it and would be returning it to him anyway. Many Thanks, Daniel
