I'm sure you have run into Tom Oliver of Oliver's Cider and Perry. The whole time I was there, his phone was ringing off the hook over the changes in taxation on cider coming into being. He's sort of a spokesman for the industry and had been interviewed for one of the national papers a few days before.

To everyone, support your local brewer or cidermaker.

OMG run in to him, I know Tom pretty well, I've done artwork for the band he produces The misers, artwork for Olivers, and I'm a hue fan of Shezam of course. My god what a small world! Have you met his friend Ian [guitar player and ANR sound producer for movies and TV], I work with his wife everyday. Thats how i met Tom. Iff you look at Olivers Cider and Perry Page on Facebook, It was me that started it!! Bloody hell I'm gobsmacked, of all the cider producers you know the one that I know the best!!

Did any of you view the 1800; it looked good from the pics?

The 1800 was in pretty good shape. A better than 'home' paint job but still some flaws in it. The trunk area was wet. Not a big deal in itself but if you are talking a car to auction, I would think that you would make sure things like that are taken care of. That lot (car) was later in the day and with all the issues they were having getting folks to bid, it would have been hours of waiting to see what it sold for. I should drop them a note to see.

Does anyone know what it sold for?

That sort of fits with the rest of the auction lots and it not making the estimated presale bracket.. I think the presale estimates were 10-12,000 on that car. If you look down the rest of the list of items from that day, you will see quite a number of cars listed as 'NS' and those were the cars that didn't make the reserve price.

What a coincidence - I've known Tom Oliver and Ian Morgan for years. From the days when we were all involved with local bands.

Jaymz - I also know Heidi and Nicky

Regards

Paul

Default Just noticed this car on p 96 of Feb 2011 Classic Cars

I owned this car for a year before the owner who auctioned it.

A good car but the engine was definitely due a rebuild !
