As I just wrote in another thread, use the lamp and lamp holder from a 700 series, up through about 1988. Here the lamps and holders are compared. This old style lamp holder has the right angle electrical fitting and is from the rear of the console.

Here are two early lamp holders butt spliced into a 1994 940.

The small replacement lamps are readily available at auto parts stores, and are not expensive.

Default Illumination Bulbs for switches

I'v just ordered bulbs and holder from volvo dealer for headlight control switch and for switches to the left of steering wheel (demister/sunroof/electric aerial). They were only about £4 each inc vat.

bulb and holder come as one assembly. Thanks for posting as I've also got to replace blue bulb for heated seats.

Well done good thread
I also hate it when bulbs are out fortunately the last owner replaced all the hard to reach ones prior to me purchasing my car but Ive spotted one out in the passenger footwell.Looks simple enough though and I have ordered some spare bulbs.

Cool

This is something I try and do whenever I visit my local breakers.

Most breakers aren't that bothered about switches, bulb holders, and other fiddly bits and pieces like that, and you'll often find that if you get them out, you'll get them for only a few quid. It's well worth it.

Last lot I got was all the window switches, and a load of connector blocks and relays from behind the dash from an old Wentworth. £5.00 the lot. I think the old boy down there thinks 'poor old sod' he can't even afford a few bulbs".

But it's just being economical about motoring, and recycling parts. One relay would cost me 4 times that.
