Unhappy serging & cruise

hi people i have an 1998 s80 se auto lovely car to drive and quite economical to run with the lpg, but things are starting to go wrong with it, cruise control stops working half way down motorway,and its started surging between 600&800 rpm,i drive down road and its started cutting out which is so embarrasing could anyone tell me what is wrong with it please .....thanks mark

My crystal ball is in for a service right now but how does your car know it is half way down the motorway. Does the CC re-engage is requested. This could be a faulty brake switch. The idle problem could be a vacuum leak issue somewhere or an Air Mas Meter not detecting the low air flow properly. Regards Peter

sorry peter i know what your saying i meant i was half way to my destination down the motorway when it just stopped working tried setting it again but it just wont have it.abs light is on and traction light is now on are these linked to the problem or coincidental

ive checked lights theyre working fine ,going to check switch and pads after work tonight .thanks peter

Default Cruise not working

The culprit has shown its self.
Your problem is the ABS controller, the old dry joint issue. You can DIY there are many threads on here, or take it off and send it to one of the many repair specialists like BBA Reman, ECU Testing and the like.

Mine went this time last year sent it off to ECU Testing 4 day turn around cost £100 if I recall and 2 year warranty. Took it off and refitted myself took about 10mins just fiddly thats all.

Mind you the surging and cutting out do point to the ETM so you could have 2 unrelated faults? Tough luck Mate

hayup mate bin talking to an old mate who works at gocar hes worked on volvos before ,he told me to eliminate a few things first, switch on pedal and sensors in hubs also mass air flow, dont really know where that is, any idea,is it on the end of the manofold and held on with 4 bolts? mark
