Default V50 "car specific" 7 pin wiring kit

hello

does anyone know if volvo do a "car specific" 7 pin wiring kit for the 2008 v50 d5 ??
I purchased one for my S60 from volvo a couple of years ago and was very good and cheap less than £30 if I remember.

thanks

I think you'll be lucky - a mate of mine turned over heaven and earth to get a 7-pin kit for his, he had to settle for 13-pin Euro jobby eventually. Cost him £300-odd quid to have it fitted by an independent too...

Try these sites:

http://www.pfjones.co.uk/towbar-wiri...ring-kits.html

http://www.toys4cars.co.uk/index.php...ducts_id=48065

I bought mine from the latter and no problems, not cheap though...

Hi there

I wouldnt personally bother with fitting Volvo equipment unless your worried about warranties, as i tow a caravan i needed the double socket which from volvo would cost over £750. I used towbar express they are online and provide i quote for you via a live chat thing. They were the cheapest i found and got a lot of change from £300.00. Proper witter towbar, tidy job, used proper connectors etc. Only difference I can think of is when reversing with the caravan you just have to turn the parking sensors off manually.

Do you know how they interface the caravan wiring with the cars computer electrics ? Its no good these days with any car just clipping the wires to the back of the rear light units ... Also where do they draw the power from to run the caravan lights ? The volvo trailer module is quite reasonably priced and does this correctly and safely ...

Hi clan

I tow my caravan regularly and have no problems, i charge the battery and also run the fridge off the 12volt. I think the 12v supply comes off the cigarette socket and i had a look when the bloke fitted it everything was a tidy job without a scotchblock in site all seperately fused so would not damage the car. It is a fixed towbar and the sensors do not pick it up when not towing and all i have to do when towing and reversing is turn off the sensors.
