Default "SAFE" jacking points?, been sort of covered i know

I need to get my 850 up in the air over the weekend using a Trolley jack and stands but cant find anywhere that looks safe to use them, the hand book is next to u/s and the Haynes isn;t much better

Im thinking at the front- sub frame? but where do i jack up on the mount where the bush is the sort of triangle shape area /3 bolts jack at the rear of the triangle and place the stand at the front of the trangle? or do i jack on the sub frame its self and place the stands at the front of the sub frame just behind the bumper area?

Not got a clue at the rear?

I know this has been covered , but nowhere can a read a definitive answer for this.

Any help here guys or better still a pic of a 850 up on stands showing where the stands are and where the Trolley jack should be placed.

Cheers
Andy

The areas I use and it seems to hold are as follows

Roughly 10 inch from the front subframe mounts there is a large lump of metal in a sort of triangle/pear shape its also raised from the floor pan

At the rear roughly 2 inch from the rear mount points there is a large section of metal work I use that.

Hope this helps and I agree the haynes is useless at this

Have a look here, I jacked it up as suggested in a couple of guides I found including Haynes, worked well:

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=50132

I went into detail on jacking the car up because I figured an oil change was a "first home maintenance" type thing (certainly it was the first bit of proper work I did on the 850) and on that basis people may not know how to jack the car up.

Thats superb John, just what i needed, i wasn't sure that the sub frame would be strong enough to hold the weight of the car, but clearly it is

Now all i need is to find out where to jack and stand the rear?
