Default Cold Start, & wing mirrors,

This morning was colder than most and for a 2 seconds the preheater came on then the car started, is this managed by the car it's self or can you over ride it to leave the heaters on longer in very cold weather.

Not very well up on this engine at the moment any one tell me if this is operating correctly.

Also do the side mirrors auto defrost or do you have to push the defrost button (rear window ) for this function to happen.

And finally still trying to get the wing mirrors to dip when reverse is selected but with no joy ????? is this a false hope

my merc takes about 5 seconds of preheating before it starts old tech agaists new tech.....

Regards Mark

No idea about the preheater - I might try tonight when I get home - the car is currently covered in 15cm of snow - the joys of living up the hill in Zollikon rather than Zurich.

As for the mirror, engage reverse, click the mirror button you would like to dip. And it should work. A great way to avoid kerbing wheels. The only marks on the entire car - after 7 1/2 months are:

Kerb marks on 3 wheels trying to get out of the West India Dock Cinema car park - while the road works were on - and there was nothing I could do

1 scrape on the tailgate - where the wifes bike fell against the car

Wing mirror demist - I have auto-demist - which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't ?!?! So no idea what it si meant to do.

Hi,

The mirrors will demist when you switch on the heated rear window, I sometimes have to press the rear mirror button a couple of times to make it move to help reversing.

Preheater was a couple of seconds at the weekend - around 5c outside temperature. It then starts onto a really lumpy idle (@1100rpm) for a couple of seconds.

In cold weather it bloody well likes a drink
