15psi is a roundabout figure to switch off the oil light....

When (at what psi) does it become critical?
So as long as the light remains off the pressure can't be lower than it should be?

The presence of an oil light showing usually means the damage has been done!!

on old engines it was acceptable for the oil pressure light to flicker at tick over.... oil light at any engine speed is bad news....

these days if the light comes on there is usually a big problem...... like no oil
