Default Warning light 'Reduced engine performance' + turtle symboll

Hi everyone, bought my 2016 XC60 D4 last year and have had no trouble during the 18,000 miles I've driven so far. But recently noticed what sounds like a misfire on cold starts. It goes away once warm. Have tried the old 'Italian tuneup' using STP but made no difference. It's now thrown up the above warning. Mileage is c 77K.

Car is booked into my local Volvo dealer so I'll find out from them but curious to know about others' experiences of this issue - pls share if you've had the same.

Failing glowplug or faulty injector ? (Both guesses)

You need to get the codes read, whether by a dealer or another garage or person with Vida.
Is the car used daily? I’ve noticed on cold mornings (my v60 d5 only gets used once a week, but sometimes goes 2 or 3 weeks without use) sometimes has what sounds like a misfire which quickly disappears, had put it down to getting cold or maybe slight damp/condensation.

Yes I believe so if your car is less than 10 years old, under 100k miles and has a FSH (even if not all Volvo).

I got the tortoise once when I had my VEA D4 and it was EMAP pipe not EGR cooler.

Default Now confirmed as EGR valve fault

Local Volvo dealer (in France) quoting €963 (£830)to do the job - 600 of which is for the new EGR valve itself. When I mentioned discussions on here about OEM goodwill and warranty replacements, he said he'd contact Volvo HQ to see what they say. I've seen talk of removing and cleaning up the valve. Presumably that's an option, and far cheaper?

Local garage has a machine that plugs into the engine and chemically cleans out EGR and associated parts in situ with the engine running. Cost €85+vat. Have decided to give it a try and will report back results.

I had this in July/August of this year dealer advised it needed new emap pipe, new manifold, egr and egr cooler was going to be £2400+vat. They said due to low milage (approx 70k) and full service history (non volvo), they would speak to volvo UK. They paid for everything, I think the inlet was a separate recall. I only had to pay £140 for the original diagnostic charge so would be worth checking with volvo

I also think cleaning the egr may not fix it as you'd also have to clean out the cooler
