You need to charge the main battery but overnight is not enough ,
You need to remove it from the car and use a variable DC Power supply set to 15.2 Volts and current limited to say 5 amps and leave it on continuously for at least 48 hours to desulphate it . give it a go ... saves buying a new battery , volvo batteries are good value and the correct one of course.
I only have a ctek 7 charger so if that's not up to the job I'll just have to leave it as it is or get a new battery.

"Smart" chargers are fine for a battery which is not sulphated but no good for recovering a battery which is not used a lot ie parked up most of the time .

Hi, I am getting warnings about the battery as I have not used the car much for months now. If you take the main battery out for a few days will this cause issues with the electronics etc. I have a repair function on my charger but have not used it with the battery connected in case it causes any issues with the car electronics.

Thanks Clan, so the car will be ok without the main battery connected for a few days without losing any of the cars functions or throwing up error messages when re-connected.
