Hi John,

Sorry to hear of your coolant troubles, i recall the same struggle with getting the end of the hoses connected over the back of the engine arghh.. anyway sounds like you managed it.

One thing you could try re identifying small leaks, is adding uv dye (its a tiny bottle) to the coolant, then use a uv torch and leaks should stand out, probably best done after dark, and soon after the dye added, as the engine warms up, keep us posted how it goes, and good luck,

Thanks Thassos I will keep you posted
It seems to be leaking from an area where there are no pipes ?
could be heater pipes leaking down the back of the sound proofing on the bulkhead ?
I will drop the undertray tonight and see if I can find the leak perhaps its spaying from elsewhere , not evident though
Drove 5 miles this morning and on exiting the car was greeted by a sweet hot smell
To add to it when i was looking for this drip noticed the my steering rack boot has popped off the rack passenger side (uk)
Great another job !

I've had problems with the pipes that connect to the heater matrix - they rub on something (in that area, can't remember what). I cut out the bad bit of pipe & joined it with a short piece of 15mm copper plumbing tube & a couple of clips.

Hi John - it's two rubber hoses in the area behind the EGR valve cooler - I think one of mine was chaffing on the EGR valve. They fit onto right angled connectors where they go through the bulkhead onto the heater matrix.

This is one of the hoses:

Hi Jon Thanks
thats about the area of "Drip" but on the bulkhead
they do seem dry , a closer inspection is required
perhaps its one of the right angle connectors leaking down behind the insulation

ps thanks for the ebay link

Hello again
Update on coolant loss
Jacked car up removed tray and noticed a open rubber hose on the lower firewall dripping water like a tap so not coolant afterall
Where is this water coming from its even sent the driveshaft rusty, a trail of water into the garage also most 😕

Thanks to all for the help on the coolant loss problem
It turns out it is certainly the air con discharge
I think my drop in coolant after I replaced the awkward to fit hose was due to air in system and the hot coolant smell was the spillage after removing the hoses
All seems ok with that issue
I think it was the most difficult hose I have ever fitted
Small hands needed

Regards
