Default 2014 V60 D5 fuel tank and consumption during DPF regen

Hi,

Travelling with over 100 miles range left. DPF decides to perform a regen (stop start unavailable and MPG lower). 100 mile range quickly drops to 50 and then 25. Just before getting to a filling station the fuel gauge turned into one red line and 4x dashes on the range.

I then filled up with 71.6 litres of diesel 🤯

A close call me thinks….?!

Indeed. I do weekly London trips and typically on cruise at precisely 50/60/70mph depending on the section of M4. I typically average 41-44mpg on the trip computer screen for each 10 mile block, except during a regen (have OBDII scanner and app to see when this kicks in). Then mpg drops to 22-26mpg for around 8-10 miles. By my calcs, the regen costs me an average additional 0.7L or £1.26.

Isn’t the fuel tank only 69 litres or thereabouts? Sounds like you had a very close call though.

Interesting about the price of each regen. Never considered that.

Yes, something like that… somewhere I read it stated 67.5 L tank for the V60.

Averaging 54-55 mpg. Car is on 89k now.
