Default Engine mountings

1983 240 B21A... Fellas, during some routine maintenance today I noticed that both of my front engine mountings are U/S. The N/S one looks straightforward as access is relatively easy, the O/S one looke to be a bit more of a problem with the oil filter, exh, pre-heat pipe, steering column in the way. Is there an easy way to change these or should I give the job to a local garage to sort out?

They both come off with no problems. Put a jack under the sump with a bit of wood to spread the load, and lift it up a bit. Release the nuts holding the mounts to the cross member, and lift it more until clear.
Then you will see what's in the way. From memory it's pretty straightforward, but perhaps unscrewing the oil filter would help. Not sure about the alternator.
Disconnect the battery while doing this - there is a hefty live wire there running from the starter to the alternator. While you have it clear, check the wiring - rot and shorts often develop behind the mounting bracket where the thick red live wire bundles with the thinner alternator wire and the oil pressure sender wire.

Thanks for your advice. I ended up getting someone to supply and fit a pair of mountings for £50.00
