Car Seats in XC60 for 3 Children - Page 2

Thanks Bokabil, been looking into putting 1 child in the front seat and 2nd adult in middle of rear, that would work ok legally but not so sure how comfortable it would be squeezed into the middle. Unfortunately the XC90 is not an option as its a Company car I am ordering and it needs to be new and no higher in price than the xc60. Plus the xc60 has good CO2 emission levels in terms of company car tax BIK.

Thanks volvorocks, but the XC90 is out of budget as its for a company car plus after something with low CO2 emissions. Wish I could get an xc90 !!

It might be legal to place a child in the front seat (in some countries it is not legal) but physically speaking it is not a safe place because of the deployment of the airbag. The passenger airbag is much larger than the driver's one, and deploys more further back towards the seat. It deploys with great force (it contains explosive powder) and the child bones - including the facial ones - are not strong enough to withstand the impact. It is recommended to place a child on the front seat only after 10-12 years old, when the bones had strengthen enough. Even then, it is recommended to have the passenger front seat positioned as far away back as it goes. Hope this helps
