Default Auxillary belt

Hi,
My Auxhillary belt came off last night, luckily it does not seem to have caused any damage, as it stayed in one piece, just shredded the side. Why would this have happened. From what I have read it could be the tensioner faulty, and there has been a recall.
It's a V70 2.0 deisel r design, registered 09/09

Vin doesn't correspond with any of the recalls on vosa, but will check with local garage.

Is this a DIY job for competent mechanic or, as is the norm these days, are special tools required?

Got the car recovered home last night, as stupidly thought it was a simple replace belt scenario.
Now it looks like I need to, somehow get the car to a garage!. Still, at least I was not forced to watch the England game.

The tensioner is not an official "recall" IIRC.

The Aux belt can be done by the home mechanic, I have produced a guide for doing it and you can find it in the technical sections.

However there is an issue with the photos I need to sort out first

Just click on the section sub forum and there will be an articles section along with wanted/sales. There are a few good guides there already and more will be added in the coming years. It's easier if you know where to look instead of having to ask questions all the time.
