Front door hinges

Hi all,just wondered has any body tried using rear door hinges on the front doors?the reason being that both front doors as usual refuse to stay open!I know its a common fault all my volvos have been the same.just happened to glance back at the rear hinge with the spring and twin cogs and thought they looked similar,as the rear doors hardly get used they dont wear out so much,i will have a closer look tomorrow but thought someone might have the answer.maybe i could change just the "s" springs as it may well be a loss of tension in them,might loose a finger or two?

should have checked the earlier threads as mike brace seems to have answered my question already.(keeping the door open)26th june.
