Truma (Carver) Motor Mover adjustment?
My parents have a Truma (taken over by Carver I think) Motor Mover (one of the eraly systems - about 10years old) on their van, but following the fitting of new tyres, one of the rollers isn't gripping as well. The instructions make reference to adjustment, but I cab't see anything obvious. Does anyone know how to adjust the rollers so they sit closed to the wheels? Is it as simple as loosening the entire system from the chassis and moving it nearer the wheel? Or better to try new rollers first (seem quite pricey)?
Many Thanks in advance Ross. |

I did this on our caravan a while ago.
It is as 'simple' as slackening all the attachment bolts and sliding it into the correct position - but that said it took me ages and a few scraped knuckles (I'm not a mechanic or anything, so that might be why!). Gaining access under the caravan is the hard bit. Lift the front of the caravan as high as you can using the jockey wheel (maybe even put the jockey wheel on blocks) so the back end is almost touching the ground. Make sure it's well chocked and cannot move. Use a pair of wooden blocks the size of the required spacing (about 20mm from memory)to slide between the tyres and the rollers to get the spacing right. Beware that every time you move one side, you put the other side out of tolerance and have to keep re-adjusting. The bolts all have specified torque settings, but if you don't have a torque wrench, just make sure that they are good and tight. As I said, it was a right pain to do, but if a total non-mechanic like me can do it.....and it did work a lot better afterwards. |

the mover is attached to the chassis via two clamps you will have to undo them off just so that you can move the roller on that side.the gap is 20mm which is the size of a 9v square battery from the roller to the tyre.
hope that helps. mike
