Turbo what options do i have
Hi everyone been putting a new engine in my car as the old one went bang, now i was going to refurb the turbo but after taking it apart the exhaust compressor whel is totally knackered. Should i just replace for standard turbo or is there an easy upgrade? I only want one that will bolt straight on and i dont want to spend to much. The turbo on the car is a recon from essex turbo's and the metal plate has been removed so i dont know what turbo i have. Anyone have a turbo that will fit my 1997 V70 T5 AUTO?
Thanks all.

Providing you aquire one with the correct flange to the down pipe (I am thinking angled, but don't quote me on that), any Mitsubishi TD04 turbo charger will bolt straight on - what is fitted at the moment?

V70
Standard Turbo on that car should be a TD04-16T but as previous says any TD04 will fit, wouldn't suggest fitting a TD04HL-15G as it's a smaller turbo. Ebay has several TD04HL-16T's for little money. Norfolk Volvo at Swaffham has several V70's so should have some 16T's as does a breakers at Wisbech [between wisbech and downham market] New ones are hugely expensive
Choices are TD04HL-16T [standard with or without angle flange depends] TD04-18T TD04-19T [commonly blamed for bending con rods with too much boost] After MHI there are numerous others Strbryan knows a lot about turbochargers

Providing the flange is correct, yes.
15G powerwise won't make much of a difference, it's probably going to spool faster so you'll get a touch more low down power compared to a 16T, which is a bit larger, taking longer to spool but having more top end. |
