Question Gutles '99 S40

OK, apologies for what may be considered daft questions.

1) Late '99 S40 1.9d - Which engine?

and,

2) Pointers for most likely cuplrit for the following

engine runs fine, car parked. Car jacked at rear for brake work. Start car for test drive, gutless? Starts and idles OK, revs a little slowly in neutral, under load it revs to approx 3 - 3.5k but as though only about 5% throttle.

I'll not be able to work on the car until the weekend, but the car is just about drivable (just!) 60mph flat out and god forbid hills!

I'm thinking fuel filter then EGR. Anyone care to save me a few hours or cast an enlightened opinion in my direction?

Cheers inadvance for your help!

Check the EGR first. Rough guide how to do this in my signature, first link to be precise. You don't need to remove rubber hoses from turbo wastegate, that guide isn't perfect, but I am still working on it. I am behind my set deadline, but should be ready by the end of June(due to unforeseen consequences)

at the moment this is the best what you can get: http://volvoforums.org.uk/showthread...=126656&page=2

Thanks for the links Biotoxic, I've been out on the car and I have the D4192T2 engine. Slightly different to your pictures but i'm hoping Ive traced the issue. The gaping hole in the flexible section of the EGR pipe may be costing me a little performance Time for a replacement me thinks! Looking at the amount of junk in it I'm suprised anything was getting through it at all.

Where for art thou' Rufe! I'm coming for a quote!

Used to have a td focus that had suffered similar loss of power, problem was found to be hole in pipe probably caused by hungry rodent. lol

Default Update - no joy :(

Rufe came through with flying colours obviously deserving the rave reviews he gets.
The replacement EGR pipe is fitted and the valve itself has been cleaned within an inch of its life, it was completely filled with oily gunk and I mean completely filled, the parts washer at work had to be emptied and refilled by our supplier as the fluid was no use to man nor beast once I'd finished.

Unfortunately it has made no real difference to the (lack of) power in the car.

Next port of call is checking the turbo. Does anyone know how much boost the turbocharger should make?

Due to a lack of smoke, I think I'm just putting off the inevitable and will end up looking at the fuel pump and the rest of the fuel system.

Next update after the weekend hopefully
