Valve seals - how hard
Anyone able to give me a quick idea of what has to come of to get some new valve stem seals in my block.
I have blue smoke at idle and bit of oil loss as well as oil on two plugs when last changed. Am i right in thinking this is a sign of worn seals? I know its a head of jobby but anyone got a quick how to??? |

Dead easy you will need a spring compressor and bits to lap the valves in again

I dont know how easy it is to do one S/V40 engines but ive recently seen an american "How to" clip on yuo tube where there dont remove the head to replace valve seals. Instead they apply compressed air via the spark plug hole to keep each valve in the "up" position and simply remove the valve keepers and change the seals that way.
Could be alot faster & easier if its possible to do and no lapping needed!!! |
