I was thinking surely on ebay you can grab a clean one of those for about a tenner

But maybe not

Bit steep for a little latch

Also another alternative for trying to remove stubborn marks (unless you tried this already) is the wonder wheel mostly for getting rid of stickers but can also take away other surface marks without cutting into paint

A mate arrived in his S60 T5 and I turned off an SRS light that he had activated when he removed his CCM to repair the thermistor, I then turned off his DRLs with Vida and cleared a few codes that had been caused by an aftermarket radio which has now been resigned to the bin and the original radio refitted.

Then we removed my CCM on the V70 and fitted a new thermistor, odd that both cars have Halfords batteries and both cars thermistors were blown which makes us wonder if maybe they don't know the correct procedure for changing the battery on these cars, after that we cleared the SRS warning on my car caused by removing the CCM and we're good to go

Once finished we were discussing the removal of front bumpers on the cars, maybe a job for a nice summer day to get the inoperative side marker bulbs replaced. I had never seen mine working but I hadn't really paid any attention to them but now that the DRLs are off I'll be using my light switch more ofter. I turned my sidelights on and was astonished to see the side markers all work, I think maybe the reason I hadn't noticed them before was they don't come on when the DRLs are running.

The car was booked into my favourite exhaust shop (C+C at Hillington) to have the tail pipe replaced. The original tail pipe was chrome and was rusty and not looking very nice.

Campbell decided that it would be best to chop the old pipe off from the box and start from there, I did wonder why but am glad he did as there was a hidden hole at the top of the pipe.

After a bit of fabrication the job was completed and I now have a smart looking tail pipe that will keep the MOT tester off my case.

Once the snow cleared yesterday and the sun came out, albiet briefly I had my two Belgian Swedish girls out in the open together for the first time

What about a dip in brick and patio cleaner like a mild acid it removes rust after a short soak, had a gallon given to me and all I seem to do now is dip rusty things in it, cam.

Well that put my blood pressure up a point or two. I've never heard spark plugs squeal as much as they did today when I tried to remove the original 18 years old plugs from the car, they were obviously reluctant to vacate their home after all this time. I originally started with a cold engine but the noise was so bad that I heated it up for 15 minutes before proceeding any further.

I ordered the plugs for one of the UK's largest Volvo dealer's online stores and before ordering I asked them what the correct plugs were for my 2.5T engine. I was given the part number for the longer reach plugs and proceeded to order them. Then my mate said it should be short plugs in my engine so after researching further I discovered I had indeed been given the incorrect information. Caveat Emptor... I think the longer plugs could have caused a lot of damage had I fitted them...

Correct plugs with gaps adjusted to 0.7

I think people confuse the 2.5T with the T5.

I had short ones in my V70 R and replaced them with long ones (30751806).

That was nerve-wracking.

long are for as I can tell.

I blow out each spark plug well with compressed air to displace dirt.
Then I crack these plugs loose.
Then I run a little lube and Berryman's down a rod so it lands right where it'll do the most good.
Then I back 'n forth each plug a lot; ever so slowly unscrewing them.

The screeching and howling I heard the first time I did plugs curled my hair.

NOTE: There's a celebrated snake oil over here called Berryman's. It is said to dissolve carbon buildup etc. Who knows.

My sparky-poos come out quietly.

An easy job today changing the 18 year old fuel filter. The original factory tape was still on the hose retaining clips which has kept them free from dirt and corrosion making for easy removal.

New filter fitted and I smothered the inside of the bracket with Lanoguard

I decided to tape up the clips, not sure what Volvo used at the factory but it did seem to be some sort of masking tape so I've done mine with that to make life easy next time the filter needs changed

Not a pretty sight
