Default V50 cat converter

SO the clutch went two weeks ago, and now the cat has gone. Has anyone had a new cat fitted to a '04 V50 2.0D? If so, does £700 inc vat sound about right? Oh, and Volvo Sweden have to send the part over !!!

Try a local exhaust specialist.
eg

or Kwikfit

Not quite sure what you are saying above , the catalytic converter on the 2.0D is a separate unit bolted between the particle filter and the turbo exhaust outlet ...

I don't think what you say is quite right here. As far as I know Clan's correct, the particulate filter is only fitted to diesels to reduce smoke.

Also early 2.0D engines were Euro 3 and didn't have a particulate filter, associated fuel additive and extra service costs.

If you look at the exhaust pipe on a E4 car (filtered) where the gases exit, the tailpipe is extremely clean. Not so on a diesel car without filter.
