Default XC70 tyres

Been interesting conversation on a FB XC70 group about fitting 235 55 r18 instead of 235 50 r18 standard size. People saying the ride quality is improved in pothole UK while handling is not affected. Few questions re insurance, mpg ect but I'm tempted to go for 55's esp to improve comfort and £20 per tyre cheaper, but has anyone on here fitted the bigger tyre on theirs ? if so any down sides ?

PS 2016 D5 220bhp with 18" trims

But probably almost exactly cancels out the slight overread as standard.

Insurance is by far the more significant issue if it is a non-standard size, as it is.

Agree re insurance will do some comparisons, I'm not in a big rush but currently have a miss match with budget on the front and Bridgestone on the rear but not extra load and we pull a caravan at the end of the season, plus they are very noisy.

I’ve fitted standard 235/50/18 Michelin Cross Climate 2
All round, got them supply only from a local tyre place.
Cheaper than Blackcircle, then had the rims refurbished and
Powder coated, they then fitted & balanced the tyres.
Ride is smooth, quiet and should improve fuel consumption.
