V70 P3 Low key battery warning
I've recently bought a 2012 V70 and replaced one of the dead key batteries. All was fine until I took it to the Volvo dealer for a recall and software update. Now I get low key battery warning.
Battery was brand new duracell and didn't show any message prior to dealer visit. I went straight back in and was told that I'd probably bent the pins when changing the battery and I'd have to book it in for them to look at it. Any ideas? I checked the springs/pins inside the fob and all looks fine. |

Hi
Does the spare fob have the same message? Could always swap batteries between the fobs to test?

I had some problems with those pins... They look perfectly fine, but if you don't get them 100% precisely bent, they won't make a perfect contact and the fob will play dead...

Thanks both.
Will check spare fob when I get home and compare pins. |

still struggling with this. I've tried new batteries in each fob, checked the pins, etc. I still get warning with either fob. Occasionally it will go away but always returns.
So annoying as all was fine until I took it to Volvo dealer. I'm reluctant to go back tbh as they'll say I've bent the pins again and will need new fobs... |

Oh FFS, it would take them 2 seconds just to whip the cover off for you!

(Forum is super-slow tonight - so long to respond to a 'submit' that I ended up with the same post twice, so edited this one.)

Not sure this helps at all, but my similar era P3 XC70's key fobs have TWO batteries each - one above the other. (XC70 and V70 are the same basic car underneath the different lower body panels and setting aside the higher suspension.)

There are two different remote keys available.
One with five keys. That's the one for cars with standard remote controlled locking. The other has six keys. You get that if you have keyless locks. The five key version has one battery, the other two. |
