Default 108000 service

Hi guys, I'm new to all this, just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction,

I'm looking for the list of checks / replacement items which make up the 108000 mile service on a V50 2.0D Euro 4. I got a quote just short of £300 but not exactly forthcoming with what I was going to get for that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

GT.

All you will get for £300 is oil change , air filter/oil filter change and maybe a rub of white grease on the door hinges to make the customer feel good , they wont plug it into their diagnostic unless you have reported a fault or they find warnings on the DIM needing checking . Your cam belt should have been changed already and wont be included in the price . If you have no warranty on the car then why not do it yourself and keep the change , you can do what the garage will do for less than £30 , have just gathered the stuff for the service on my V70 D5 at 133k miles , £14 for oil , air filter £7.36 , oil filter £3.39 still using the white grease the volvo dealer gave me last time they had it five years ago . At 108k you should also do the fuel filter but I bet the garage have not included that ? diy and you know its been done and its easy .

Funnily enough I've just priced up some parts,
Oil they said shopuld be 5w30 full synthetic (seems a bit extravagant?) £27.60
Oil filter £6.09
Air Filter £8.55
Fuel Filter £12.95
Pollen Filter £7.50

totals £62.69 inc VAT

The only query they said is the top up for the fuel particulate filter which they don't sell, they said it can only be bought froma main dealer any he didn't think they'd sell it to me with me not being a garage as it's carsinogenic.

Is the Particulate additive top up something which can be changed by a mere mortal, or does it have to be done by a qualified mechanic, ie will i need to reset any computers etc.

if computers or other software resets are required, is there a back door route to doing that like with resetting the service interval with a series of button presses, tapping on the boot lid and sending the windows up and down etc.??

Cheers.

If the service interval reminder bothers you the BSR Nordic PPC code reader is dedicated to Volvo , dont know if it does yours so you would need to check and it does reset the service light , I missed out on it when it was on special offer at £50 and cant bring myself to pay the £100 they want now so am waiting for another special offer from them . If you dont want to buy one of these then just ignore the service required message although it is annoying when it keeps coming up on the dim . My V70 has never had a new pollen filter and I didnt know you could get them for £7.50 so may change mine , the oil I have used for past 50k miles is Havoline Extra 10W-40 , it claims to be B4 which is what my handbook says the car needs , was buying it from Morrisons at about £12.5/5L but recently ASDA in Strabane had it for £ 2/ Litre so I cleared the shelf of it and hope I have enough for the rest of the cars life . I know I will get slated for using this oil but it seems to do the job and if you use a garage they might be using something even nastier and charging full price .
