Default 2006 Volvo XC70 Xenon , 4300, 5000 or 6000K

Hi All,

Probably a question that has already been asked, but if it has can someone point me to the thread.

Right it's my 5 year anniversay for replacing bulbs in my Volvo XC70 2006, last time I did this was in 2011..

The part I used last time was : Phillips 35w D2R Bulb: [Volvo Part 989833]
http://www.volvopartshop.com/bi-xeno...x29-4058-p.asp

However has anyone used any of the other colour ranges and will they be OK in my car?

ie
4800K - http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/Phi...sion-Bulb.html

6000K - http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/Phi...rade-Bulb.html

4300K - http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/d2r...enon-bulb.html

5000K - http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/D2R...-HID-Bulb.html

I'm kinda hedging my bets with the Philips as I know they last 5years from previous experience (3 Philps bulbs thus far in 10yrs and 190K miles, and the 4th one will be swapped out as I'll change the pair)

What are peoples thoughts, 6000K and swap the pair will that be OK? Or will they damage the plastic Headlight lense? (which is faded in any case due to sunlight )

The headlights aren't great on these (and I'm old and blind) so when I changed mine I got some Philips X-treme vision ones in the standard 4800. These are too fiddly to change for experimenting with different temperatures so I went safe.

Kind of where I'm at too at the moment... Both in age and fiddly to change as when I changed them the last time, they were a right royal pain in the .....

I have 5000k - no hint of blue and a nice white light.

4300 is yellow ish but bright

5000 is best of both (clear colour _ still bright)

6000 is slight blue, slightly less light

I'm currently using 5000k ebay specials, I have a slight colour mismatch not sure if my ballast is failing or rubbish bulbs. Genuine bulbs are incredibly expensive - I would just buy 2x pairs from a UK seller and keep the other pair as spare.

I'd agree with your last point ;-)

And possible apply it to 6000K after reading less light, in several places now ;-)

As I'm fitting myself and I'm dreading it as it was a pig of a job last time, I'm erring on the side of buying Genuine as don't want to be replacing again whilst I have the car Once I go over 200K miles which is my goal, and then I might want to get to 250K LOL

fair play! If I could afford it I would fit genuine Bosch but at around £68 per bulb it's crazy.
