Just to say when we got ours ours were 7,3 and new born and we used the centre booster seat and now that ours are 3,8 and 11 we only have one car seat in the car and the booster seat. You can when the 3 year old moves up a seat put the baby seat in the middle and have boosters with backs either side.

The xc90 handbook says a child 1400mm tall and upwards can use the 2nd row centre pop up booster seat without need for external seat being needed that would probably give you the room you need both sides for external booster seats. Hope this helps
