Default Service Query - Airbox

Hi all,

Just a quick one. I had to remove my airbox in order to change some bulbs (see the incredible long and boring post if you must :->)

In November, the car had its second/24k service for £320. I understood on the D5 the servicing covers things like

oil change, diesel filter, air filter, and so on?

On opening the airbox, we removed the yellow and grey (from dirt) filter to find the box a 1/4 covered in "things"
things covered things like leaves, insects, and just general muck
Since november I've done about 3-4000 miles mainly local driving so the query is that ... do you think this was changed in november?

I dont know how much muck a filter collects but I thought this was quite abnormal in the amount. It might just be the design of the car that takes in more than others - would be interested in other D5 owners about how much yours collects

Cheers

Hey, Thanks for that reply.
I was shocked - as was my friend who was helping with the bulb change. I could have built a mini farm with what I found in there!

I'll monitor it as I've emptied it now to see how it gets in the next month or so but your reply has helped. Well - it just saved me a call tomorrow (an embaressing one) to say they didnt do their job and charged me £320 just to park my car in their service dept lol

Thanks again

Also to add ..just because the people who sercived your car changed the air filter doesnt mean to say they actually cleaned out the filter box...

Very true...next time you have your car serviced check how "clean" the brakes are after being billed for a can of brake cleaner !!!

Hi,

I recently installed a powerflow panel filter to my V90.

The muck in the box was mostly dust and grit but included leaves, seeds and feathers!

i change my air filter about every 4 months, and every time the box has been full of , dust, grit, leaves etc. it id very normal, but if you are getting lots of leaves and insects, do you live in a very green area?? if so, thats probably your answer why you are getting such stuff in your air box
