Default Possible To Move A Used Towbar Module Between Two XC40's?

In regards to installing a used genuine Volvo retractable towbar (part # 32270801), control module, switch and loom on an XC40; the control module will require a software update to engage the trailer stability assist, disable the rear parking sensors and fog light.

Does anyone know whether towbar modules can be transferred between cars and updated with software on the replacement vehicle? Or will the module remain locked to the previous XC40 and we will require a new control module?

I'm fairly new to Volvo's, but know from BMW's that ISTA+ won't code used modules and they require coding with NCS Expert and WinKFP. Is this similar to Volvo's?
