Default C70 T5 not a smooth ride

I have a 00 C70 T5. Last week, after owning the car for a week the ETS light came on. A common problem i believe after reading several posts on this site. The throttle housing was replaced at a cost of £700!! The car does not seem to be a smooth ride. I can best describe it as a minor judder, but that would probably be exaggerating. The problem is synonymous with blocked injectors but i have run an additive through the system. I have also changed the plugs but to no avail. It has 55000 miles and is due for a service. could it be the fuel filter? There is knocking on full lock (both directions) and a noise on pull away and gear change (up and down). My theory on this is the constant velocity joint or rubber gaiter????? Could the two be linked?? Thanks for your help

Hi Chrissneill,

The knocking could very well be the CV joints. Have you checked the gaiters? The gaiters themselves wouldn't cause the knock, it would be the effect of split gaiters (i.e. worn CV joints) that would cause the knocking sound.

What's the noise on pull away like? A knock / clunk? Just once or several in a row? I don't think that noise would be the CV joint, especially if the knocking occurrs on pull away in a straight line. Maybe the top engine mount.

Did you buy privately of from a dealer? If from a dealer I assume the throttle housing was replaced under warranty.

Regards

Andy

>Andy, I have not yet checked the gaiters. The knock is imnmediately when you release the clutch on pull away. The noise is also there when you continue to change up the gears and similarly when you change down. There is a knock on full lock as well which led me to believe it could be the CV joints. Would this also affect the smoothness of the ride as that is the main issue for me. Thanks again, Chris PS I did purchase the car from a dealer but with a poor warranty.. oops
